On February 22 (the 96th anniversary of our opening day), Movies at the Palace presents a double-feature showdown of Superman (1978) and Batman (1989) — two iconic films that redefined the modern superhero and inspired generations to find the courage within. As part of our Season of Courage, this screening explores what it means to stand up for others—whether it’s Superman’s unwavering faith in humanity or Batman’s fearless fight for a city lost to corruption. Together, these timeless stories remind us that courage takes many forms: compassion, conviction, and the choice to act when others cannot.

Experience these classic films as they were meant to be seen: on the United Palace’s 50-foot screen, with 7.1 surround sound and live, interactive entertainment before the main features, as is our tradition. It’s an epic tribute to the heroes who shaped our culture, inspired generations, and continue to light the way forward.
